HUNGARIA — 1918 ・ ・ 1921. Cast bronze, brown patina, 72.2 mm, 137.89 g; vorzüglich (extremely fine). Very rare.
Obverse: Bust of young woman in profile to left, wearing crenellate crown with head covered by palla to offer sacrifice, eyes downcast; title legend left and right edge, respectively; artist's monogram, encircled ligatured ƎE to right.
Reverse: Naked young woman crucified at center, the arms of Hungary at the foot of cross; to either side opposing lines of soldiers armed with spears; artist's signature legend OPUS — ESSOE at ends of cross, left and right respectively; artist's monogram lower right.
Not listed in Huszár, Lajos, and Béla Procopius. 1932.
Medaillen- und Plakettenkunst in Ungarn. They do list a variant: GERMANIA A・D・ 1919 ・ 1921, p. 201: 1946, with a similar imager on obverse and substitution of arms of Germany for that of Hungary at foot of cross on reverse; cast bronze, 70 mm.
