Title: Hello from Bagerap
Post by: bagerap on April 22, 2013, 04:06:14 AM
I'm a collector across a broad expanse of exonumia wth a sadly underfunded taste for medals. As the years roll by, my interests widen  whch generally means that I know a lot about some areas and zilch about others. Probably Gustav Klimt attracted me to the   Secessionists even before the medallists, but I'm anticipating learning a lot here.

Hi, and welcome!!

You are our first 'non-associated' member and we're happy to see you.  As you have probably surmised, this place looks pretty dead, huh?  Since the site has only been live for a couple of days it may take some time to build up steam but we're hoping to have a good group of people discussing this fascinating area of medals.

For the time being, feel free to post or ask questions on the General Discussion Forum.  As we accrue specialists/collector membership of certain artists we will be adding content to the appropriate artist page along with a gallery of their work.

We look forward to your participation!!

Hi Bagerap!

Haarmann needs to get busy explaining the term "secessionist medals" in the forum overview 8)  In a nutshell, the term refers to central European medalists, but mostly Munich Schoolers, that began creating dance of death medals during WWI.  Mark Jones wrote a pamphlet-like book regarding this subject (I'll try to find a location of a copy of this hard to find book).  I like anyone who 'bucks the system' so I am enamoured with all of the associated artists and art.  German Expressionism fits nicely into this genre too.

I digress...welcome, and enjoy!
