    (Farewell)

    1915, Cast bronze uniface, 33.9mm x 30.1mm, 7.6g, UNC, Ernsting WVZ 95.  Henry Scott Goodman Collection

    Heart-shaped flat surface with highly raised and graded edges. Framing lines are parallel to the edge. The image and the script are raised sculpturally above the surface.

    On a convex landform are two benches with a young woman on the left bench, her hair down, and on the right bench, a soldier in field uniform and wearing a picklehaube helmet, his rifle leaning on the bench. They have their hands clasped together from outstretched arms. Behind them is a wide spread crucifix topped with a tablet with incised INRI acronym for Latin phrase; IESVS·NAZARENVS·REX·IVDÆORVM (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews). On the cross is Christ with a halo and emanating light. On the left and right surface are raised dates 1914-1915.
