    (Attack)

1915, Uniface medal, Cast Bronze, 74.9mm, 101.7g., Gussfrisch.  Edge stamp: C.POELLATH SCHROBENH
    Henry Scott Goodman Collection

A flat field with a raised border and a high, lower exergue; the image motif is raised sculpturally.

A single-axle platform wagon with disc wheels pulled to the left by two apparently unbridled horses on which a densely packed group of soldiers armed with lances and three small flags.  Exergue is inscribed L.G.

Brüssel, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, Albert I Penningkabinett (Royal Library)
London, British Museum, Department of Coins and Medals
Paris, Musée d’Historie Contemporaine (Museum of Contemporary History)

Known examples in Private Collections: 3

The group of soldiers corresponds to that on the piece WVZ 71 " Auf zur Schlacht " (Off to Battle), which has so far only been shown in one illustration, except for minor deviations in minor details.  Both show a clear proximity to the group of works WVZ 55 to WVZ 62 and may be assigned to them also with regard to the time of origin, thus around the turn of the year 1914/1915.
