Obverse: Death portrayed as skeleton wearing iron crown, carrying scythe on gaunt horse riding to right over landscape of skulls and writhing snakes; artist's monogram, encircled, ligatured ƎE upper left.
Reverse: crowned skull, full face, on iron-crowned shield on laurel wreath encircled by title legend.
