  • Karl Ott.  1914.  DREI KREUZE FÜR UNS / STREITEN ● IN LEID / UND SIEG / UND TOD / A ● D / 1914 (three crosses fight for us; in suffering, and victory, and death).  Single-sided cast bronze, light-brown patina, 62.9 mm, 38.89 g.  Fast gussfrisch (near as-cast).  Rare.

    On a ground-line slender columns form three compartments; left and right compartments with arched tops; in left compartment naked warrior to right, wearing helmet and with upraised sword in right hand; Iron Cross in arch above; in center compartment naked man en face raises bent arms towards a haloed Roman cross; in right compartment, nurse to right ministers to half-reclining draped man; Red Cross in arch above; four-line title inscription in exergue formed by ground-line; two-line vertical year-date separated left, right, respectively; artist's signature K・OTT・ lower left on ground-line; raised rim, pearled border overlaid intermittently by image.
