  • In The Numismatist (flagship publication of the American Numismatic Association) Volume XXXIII (1920), Dr. Malcolm Storer creates a reference list of medals of the naval battles of WWI (of course, then just called the World War).

Here is the list of pages (per the page number shown, not the PDF page number) where each of his multi-issue articles start:

    Pg 146-149 April 1920, Ref No. 1 - 23a (1914)
    Pg 198-201 May 1920, Ref No. 24 - 52 (1914-1915)
    Pg 236-239 June 1920, Ref No. 53 - 77 (1915)
    Pg 295-299 July 1920, Ref No. 78 - 113 (1915-1916)
    Pg 344-346 August 1920, Ref No. 114 - 134 (1916-1917)
Pg 388-390 September 1920, Ref No. 135-154 (1917-1919 plus Addendum)

Hopefully this helps someone with some research; 1920-dated documentation puts this nearly contemporary to the medals.
